The journey has begun! I was traveling home from a girl’s weekend.  I called James to check in before my flight…. And led him on a mini mission to our guest room, to discover a card and a small box.  Inside the card was the address for this blog.  He knows!  Let the celebration begin! He is excited, and apprehensive.  He is nervous about not knowing what each day will hold, and relinquishing control for over a month. James is a veteran, and the military side of his personality is not a fan of this scenario.  Plus… The sneaky kid that still exists in his brain is telling him to dig in and discover all the secrets.  (Note to husband…knock it off.)

So what is today’s gift? A vintage Mack truck tie.  A little background perhaps… James’ grandfather worked on Mack trucks.  James was close to his grandfather, and even tagged along to work with him on occasion. This grandfather also loved to collect Mack truck collectibles, which we have inherited.  This has always been a great way for James to stay close to him, and share stories with our boys.

James also LOVES ties, he owns over 100 ties.  He would dress up everyday if I let him.  I came across a picture of an old Mack truck tie, and it was decided, I HAD to have one to give to him….and the hunt began! Thank you eBay and Etsy for being so amazing.  After some digging and narrowing down, I found the perfect tie, and James loves it too. Gift #1 was a hit.
